Featuring Paul Lewis and Allen Dyer

This Zoom Session will focus on the resources that Michael Polanyi’s thought provides for a contemporary understanding of ethics. What are the major contours of a “post-critical” approach to ethics? Paul Lewis’ recent essay “Mapping the Territories of a Polanyian Ethic” is the reading resource for this session. Discussion will open with brief remarks by Paul Lewis, a Christian ethicist, and a comment by Allen Dyer, a psychiatrist and medical ethicist. This session is planned as a complement to the 29 August 2026 Zoom session featuring Dyer and Lewis and focused around the chapter “Madness and Moral Inversion” of Dyer’s recent book Madness and the Political Divide (see information about this session on this page).
