The Polanyi Society is a scholarly organization
whose members are interested in the thought of Michael Polanyi,
a scientist and philosopher who lived from 1891 to 1976.

The 2015 annual meeting of the Polanyi Society will be held 20-21 November in Atlanta, GA, at which time the Society will host Thomas Pfau, the Alice Mary Baldwin Professor of English and Professor of German at Duke University.

Dr. Pfau’s recent book, Minding the Modern: Human Agency, Intellectual Traditions, and Responsible Knowing draws on various elements of Polanyi’s philosophical work and explores a number of themes related to post-critical philosophy and the contemporary study of the humanities.
